Quote of the Week

"You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." - Maya Angelou

Elderly in the News

The Biden administration released new guidelines on nursing home visits, the first update to the federal nursing home guidance since September. The updated guidelines loosen restrictions, allowing for guests to visit residents inside, whether they are vaccinated or not. The change comes as the country starts to reopen and recover from the pandemic, though the guidelines still recommend outdoor visits to minimize the risk of transmission. As the country starts to heal from the pandemic, these new guidelines are a sign of the upcoming loosening of restrictions, hopefully providing relief to many nursing home residents and other elderly affected by isolation and loneliness during the pandemic.
