"In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life. It goes on." - Robert Frost

Elderly in the News

For many older Americans, they have been able to receive vaccines using state-implemented online systems. However, for those without access to the internet or knowledge of how to navigate it, signing up to be vaccinated can be extremely difficult and nearly impossible. For instance, 84 year old Ms. Annette Carlin is unable to navigate the Internet or even afford a computer. While relatives could help her, she is wary of having them over for her safety. The struggles that Ms. Carlin faces are present with many other elderly seeking vaccine registrations, due to the digital divide present between the younger and the older generation. Because of the vaccination process's reliance on an online system, it is not entirely accessible to some seniors. As vaccine rollout continues, administrations will hopefully seek out better ways at reaching those with less access to technology and providing them with guidance on receiving vaccinations.
